This year Sunset is raising money for the Cody Honor Guard. The Cody Honor Guard honors local deceased veterans at their memorial services, through their presentation of the American flag. They present flags at a variety of community events, the 3rd and 4th of July Parades, the Community Christmas Lighting Parade, the Stampede Rodeo, and memorial services at the Veterans Memorial Park. They also award a scholarship to a Cody High School band student upon completion of their senior year. The student is awarded the scholarship for their service of playing “Taps” and commitment as a member of the Honor Guard. Our fundraiser is October 24th (Sports Day), 25th (Dress as a career/hobby), and 26th (80’s Day). We will be doing a dress up day for each of these days. We are asking if your child participates in a dress up day, that they bring $1. They can also bring more than that as long as it is ok. This year, Sunset Student Council will gift the class that earns the most money a movie/pajama party. Please help support our Veterans!

Sunset PTO’s Fun Run fundraiser was a success and they exceeded their goal! The challenge to our students was that if our goal was exceeded Mr. McCarten will kiss a pig. Please meet Miss Bobby Sue. She is no ordinary pig, she is a Dark Cross and the 2023 Park County 4H Heavy Weight Grand Champion AND the Grand Champion Ultrasound, which is a way muscle vs. fat is measured. She loves bully rubs, snacks, and naps. Two good sports right there!

Sunset Families, The homecoming parade is on Friday, September 22nd at 2:30. In recent years, elementary schools have had a float with our students walking in the parade. We will NOT be doing that this year. We encourage our families to take their children to watch the parade as spectators. This gives our elementary students an opportunity to observe the homecoming parade and learn what it's all about. Dismissal on Friday will follow the normal Friday schedule. Go Broncs and Fillies!
